IAA Meeting at Gentleman Jack's Alpaca Ranch

September 11, 2017 12:05 PM | Richard & Andrea Hammersley (Administrator)

We had a great day Saturday visiting, enjoying great speakers, and just talking alpaca.  I think the "just talking alpaca" is very important.  It was a beautiful day at a beautiful location.  Thanks to everyone involved.

Some of us could not make it. Anyone on our staff take notes. it really would be nice to read a little of what was discussed, when the next meeting will be, etc.

We had a great time at Gentleman Jack's Alpaca Ranch. Julie Delaney from Irish Meadows spoke to us on her farm store and some information on alpacas and taxes. Mike Christin gave us an overview on his fiber mill. He gave information on his process and what products he can produce for us. Lisa Gilman spoke on her ideas for Wabash Woolen in Wabash, In. We had planned a craft day in November, but several things have come up and we will have to reschedule that. We had lots of questions on alpacas general information, veterinarian access, shearers, etc. It was a good meeting. We are still working on fiber evaluation of our personal herds so we can gather fiber for an IAA product. We will work on that during Craft Day. We will be letting you know the date shortly.
